In summary:

  • Word processors & Google docs like to add extra HTML tags & formatting when you copy & paste, which can lead to some theme styles being overwritten on the website.
  • See what extra HTML tags are being applied by viewing the "Text" tab in the Wordpress WYSIWYG editor.
  • There are two options to format the text correctly:
    • Go through and remove the extra tags that were copied from the document, such as
    • Preferred method: Go back to the document and copy all the text again, then use CMD+Shift+V when pasting in order to paste it as Plain Text. Then, use the Wordpress editor to format the post the way you want.
